JMR Adjustable Tube Notcher Mount

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

JMR Manufacturing is known for new and innovative tools.  The NEW JMR Tube Notcher mount is a simple design with a lot of useful function.  The notcher mount mounts into a receiver.  The receiver comes standard on JMR fabrication tables or you can weld a receiver stock under the edge of your fabrication table.  The receiver stock is the same size as you would find on the back of most trucks for towing.

dsc_2808With the tubing notcher mounted to the side of your fabrication table you can no open up many new possibilities with the tubing notcher.  You will notice the main shaft the notcher bolts to is clamped into the billet aluminum base.  With the clamp loose you can adjust the notcher mount up and down with the bearing and allen screw.  You can also rotate the notcher mount if needed.  OK… I know some people want to know why you would want to adjust the height of the notcher.  Simple, the JMR Tube Notcher Mount allows you to adjust the tube notcher to the tube you are working will sit flush with the fabrication table top.  If you change tube diameter you can simply adjust the tube back to the table top.  Once you have the tube sitting on the table top you can easily notch in plane with bends in the tube.  For instance if you have a bend in the tube simply place the tube in the notcher and lay the tube flat on the table.  Your notch will be in plane with the bend.  No need to break out the level.

The cool part about this it you can build fixtures on the table to hold a bend at a certain rotation to make the correct notch every single time.  If you need to make sure your end product is the same every time this is the way to go.  The same goes for notching straight pieces of tubing. You can build a stop on the table to slip the part into the same depth every time.  This feature will be very helpful to those building repeat parts over and over.

The notcher mount main body is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and hard anodized black for a long lasting finish.  The main shaft is solid steel with a polished surface.  The main shaft sits on a bolt with a sealed bearing.  The shaft rotates on the edge of the sealed bearing so the height does not change while rotating the mount.  The main body is designed to slide into 2.5″ box tube with a .25″ wall thickness.

JMR Rotary Tube Bender / Roller Combo

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

dsc_2689JMR Manufacturing has been busy in the shop building a new rotary tube bender.  The new bender has a 3 inch capacity.  With this one machine you can bender round tube, round pipe, and square tube to a 180 degree bend without stopping.  The new JMR bender also features a tube rolling attachment.  With the JMR bender there is no reason to spend extra money to buy a roll bender.  It only takes a few minutes to install the roll bending attachment to the machine.

One of the great features of this machine is all JMR tube bender dies will work with the machine.  Most Pro-Tools and JD Squared bender dies will work with the machine.  Be sure to call with questions regarding tooling you may already own and how it will be able to work with this machine. 120, 180, and 240 degree dies will work on this machine.

The new JMR Rotary Bender sells for $9995.00 plus shipping.  Be sure to call for estimated ship times.

JMR Sportsman Tube Bender

Monday, November 29th, 2010

JMR’s New Sportsman Bender is designed for the fabricator on a budget who refuses to settle for import or domestic crap. Features alloy steel arms, offering the high capacity JMR is known for, bearings/bushings at all pivot points, and an all new 5 speed drive mechanism. Retails for $249 with pictured degree wheel.

Because JMR is offering the Sportsman Bender at such a low price we will not be shipping it with a handle.  The reason for this is a couple reasons.  It saves JMR money and lets us sell the bender a little cheaper.  The handle for the Sportsman is simply an 1.5″ OD round tube.  Most people have access to a 1.5″ OD round tube.  The other reason is we are able to ship the bender in a smaller box saving you money.  The added cost of shipping the handle would be more than you supplying the tube yourself.  This bender might be cheaper than all of the others on the market but DO NOT BE FOOLED.  The JMR Sportsman bender is jam packed with features the more expensive benders do not have. Yes, you do get a free degree wheel and pointer with this bender.

2x4_jmr_fabtable

JMR Manufacturing has been hard at working getting new tools ready for market.  The JMR fabrication tables have been a huge hit in many different industries and for the at home fabricator.  The tables can be purchased in various sizes and custom sizes also.  Standard sizes start at 2x4x3/8 and go up depending on your need. JMR can also manufacture thick table tops blanchard ground and add machined holes for the more serious fabricators.

The new leg kits are manufactured from CNC laser cut plate 3/16″ thick and then formed on a press brake.  Dimple Die flares are added for extra strength.  The feet do have pre-drilled holes for you to add levelers or casters depending on your need.  Leveling feet and casters can be sourced through JMR or purchased from your favorite hardware company.  They are not included with the table top or leg kit.

The introductory price for the 2x4x3/8 JMR fabrication table top is 595.00 plus freight.  The table in this form comes with (4) JMR legs, (1) pre-welded on base to the table, (1) table top, and hardware to bolt the legs to the table base.  Once received all you have to do is bolt the legs on and start fabricating.

JMR does offer angle block kits and clamp down kits.  Call for details.

Drilling Through Tube With the JMR TN1000

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

The JMR TN1000 Tube and Pipe Notcher is the most versatile hole saw notcher available.  We have been posting different tasks that can be accomplished with the JMR notcher.  Unlike notchers that are large, bulky, and clamp all the way around the tube the JMR notcher can be used on a vehicle or project.  What I mean is after tube is welded in place on your vehicle the JMR notcher can be clamped directly on the project to drill holes and even notch tube.  The following pictures show how you can use a 3/4″ hole saw to drill through tube to insert a weld in shock bung.  This can be VERY useful drilling in position to ensure shock mount locations are exact.

The JMR notcher can drill through square tube on the flats or on the diamond.  On the diamond refers to through the points.  Again a big advantage is the holes can be drilled in place after your project is welded together.

Notching Short Pieces Of Tube

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

The JMR TN1000 hole saw notcher has a movable vise which allows it to notch very short pieces of tube.  In the pictures you will see how the vise slides up close to the hole saw.  The JMR TN1000 is the ONLY hole saw notcher on the market with a movable vise.  JMR incorporated this design feature because the person designing the tool actually has practical fabrication experience and very little experience staring at an office wall.  Notching short sections of tube is only one feature the JMR TN1000 offers.

See more pictures of the JMR TN1000 HERE.

You can find the notcher in our ONLINE STORE HERE.

Another great feature the JMR TN1000 offers is the ability to notch flat bar.  You can read more about this feature and see pictures of the TN1000 in action by looking HERE.

OK, now you have seen the most logical way to notch a short piece of tube.  Now I will show you a way to notch tube even shorter.  The method pictured below is from years of experience in the shop fabricating race trucks not sitting on the internet reading about how others fabricate.  If you EVER have questions about how to use a JMR tool feel free to call or email.

If you would like to make the tool used in the JMR TN1000 below it is very simple to do.  Cut a 5 inch piece of tube that will slide over the tube you want to notch.  With a cut off wheel cut a slot down the length of the tube. Make sure to leave about 1/2 at the end of the slot.  In other words DO NOT cut all the way down.  The slot is cut in the tube to allow it to clamp down around the work piece. Make sure the 1/2 inch you left is at the opposite end from the piece you are notching.  Insert the short piece of tube you want to notch and clamp down in position.  The JMR vise will allow you to clamp down firmly to hold the short piece of notched tube.  If you have a different brand of notcher you can can still do this procedure.  Depending on the brand notcher you have you may have to use a radiator hose clamp out toward the end of the tube to help hold the tube.
